About me

I'm a self -taught artist from Asheville, North Carolina, who uses a blend of traditional and digital techniques to create artwork that has enjoyed international recognition. I am continually obsessed with the poetic interaction of color, shape gesture and expression in both the human and animal worlds. I try to combine these elements to invest the creatures in my art with the power to reassure anyone who, like me, may be struggling to make sense of an often senseless world.  Certainly my artwork doesn't have many answers, but it may provide strange little promises of hope to those who wonder and wander and struggle to find firm ground in a world comprised of endless shaky fault lines.

I am a published children's book illustrator (Hush Little Beachcomber, Kane/Miller) and have created works that have been printed as wall art and on a wide variety of products including mugs, pillows, clothing and calendars. I have participated in several regional art shows including Atlanta's Splash Festivals and have also exhibited my work at Zapow Illustration Gallery. Most recently, the newest wing of Asheville's Mission Hospital has bought two of my pieces for their permanent collection. If you have any comments or questions about my work, or if you would like to commission a project, do not hesitate to contact me!
